In reply to Mr: Lucas's letter, No: 42640/1904,
of the 4th instant, on the subject of Mr: R.H.Crofton's
application for the post of Chief Clerk in the Colonial
Secretary's Office of Hong Kong, I am directed by the
Comptroller and Auditor General to say that he can,
with confidence, recommend Mr: Crofton's application for
Mr: Secretary Lyttelton's favourable consideration, and
that he sees no objection to Mr: Crofton's appointment
on probation as proposed.
